  6. NTFS offers file based compression but the compression rate isn't displayed
  7. anywhere. For any folder on an NTFS volume, NTFSRatio shows the size and
  8. the compression rate of this folder and also of its subfolders. Compression 
  9. and decompression can be done inside NTFSRatio with immediate review of the
  10. result. NTFSRatio can be called from the Explorer context menu of any folder.

  13. INSTALLATION

  15. Execute NTFSRatioSetup.exe and follow the instructions. NTFSRatio can be
  16. uninstalled using the Software applet in the control panel.

  21. * The easieast way to start NTFSRatio is from the Explorer context menu of
  22.   a folder.

  24. * By double clicking on a subfolder, a new window will be opened that shows the
  25.   size and compression rate of the subfolders. To do this, a rescan of the
  26.   folder is currently necessary, which is fast on local drives due to caching
  27.   but slow on network drives.

  29. * By right clicking on a folder, the Explorer context menu will displayed.
  30.   There are two additional menu entries on the bottom of the context menu
  31.   which can be used to compress or uncompress this folder. The context menu 
  32.   of the scanned folder is accessible by right clicking on the background of
  33.   the list

  38. NTFSRatio is mailware, which means you can use NTFSRatio without charge and
  39. distribute the complete archive. If you decide to use it, you must send me an
  40. e-mail or a postcard. Please include the version number of your copy, where you
  41. found it and problems or errors if you had some. NTFSRatio is intended for
  42. private use. People who use NTFSRatio at work should use TreeSize Professional,
  43. which offers a lot more useful features.
